The act of raping that woman is a despicable act; however, the real culprit is Gadhafi himself, as a dictator. I feel it is the first time since WWII after defeating the Nazi Germany; the U.S. is truly siding with the people, by intervening in Libya. The reward will be tremendously positive for having a good relationship with the Muslim World, particularly the Arab nations. The result will be a trade and economic relationships with the United States. I am mostly looking to other Arab countries to institute a Constitutional Monarchy, much like that of Great Britain, these countries being Jordan, Morocco, Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, etc. All these countries are running to offer large economic incentive to their own people, but those despicable rulers do not understand that the people do not live off bread alone but rather off Freedom, and Dignity, and political reform. The U.S. should never support those absolute monarchies just because they have good relations with Israel. It is in our national interests to support the people of these countries. As far as the uprising in other Arab republics, such as Yemen and Syria, I called for Presidents in any of those countries to simply be a figurehead, just like in Turkey and India. This should be the ultimate goal: Syria is among the most repressive regime in the entire Arab world. I had known Syria very well. The Baath party, which was established in Syria in the early 50’s by Michelle Aflaq, a Syrian christian, was split into two branches who were against each other, with one in Syria and the other in Iraq, at the time of late Saddam Hussein. Aflaq fled to Iraq and died in Baghdad. This Baath party was among the worst in the Arab world in the last several centuries. This city of Deraa, which is only two miles away from the Jordan borders, was the place where my wife was living, and when I was to marry her March 21st, 1976, I was told by the Syrian security that I was not allowed to enter Syria, as they discovered that I was on the “black list,” from when I was a student in Spain, opposing the Syrian Baath party. When I was forced to return to Jordan, only two miles away, I had to communicate with my wife, through the U.S., as I could not call her directly from Jordan, so her uncle had to bring her to Jordan. It was unbelievable that I could not talk to her on the phone, from Jordan to Deraa, only two miles away, because the operators would not allow it. Is there any doubt in anybody’s mind that those dictatorial governments must be dealt with severely? Long live Liberty and Power to the People.
